    Site Offline

    • Question, I was told there was a way you could set in global config your site to offline and then still edit and hit the preview button and see your changes while logged in as admin, while other people coming to your site would only see

      The site is offline message

Yet when i turn it off, and then go to preview link even though im logged in as admin i still see

      The site is offline message

Which kind of defeats the point of being able to turn it offline to go into maintenance mode right? It leaves me not being able to see my changes. I mean sure you can do an article and hit preview and see it in a lightbox but i want to see entire site

    • When the is is offline and you click on preview, you have to login on the front end as well.

Imagine you've taken the site off line, a user visits, they get the offline message.

Now you are making changes to the site and want to preview.

When you click on 'Preview' a new tab or window opens, and you get the message...

That new instance of the browser has no way of knowing it's you, even though you are logged in on the back end.
