Line numbers for css and html scripts?

Hi
Pardon the ignorance, but I've been reading a lot of tips, tricks, and fixes in the forum. Many of these have instructions to go to line this line that in either the template.css or html files. I go into template css or html and find myself counting each line! since there are no line numbers! Is there a way to quickly find where a particular 'line' is so I can add or change a certain script?

- Rather than opening the file through the Joomla back end, open the files in your FTP client or your favorite HTML editor most of them have line numbers for reference.
