    Vbulletin - phpbb

Posted 16 years 1 month ago
    • Hello,

I just installed joomla and love it.

I currently have a vbulletin board. I'd like to convert vbulletin db to phpbb db. What i'd like to know is even if I have a fresh joomla install (no user except me) would I be able to keep my phpbb data or would phpbb have to a new install too.

Thinking about joining the phpbb3 club. :D .

    • Install your phpBB on a separate DB.

If you want to sync users, use RokBridge.

    • Would I be able to also bring over the threads, posts & post counts?

    • Oh I think I get it. The board will be on a different DB so all threads and posts will be present and just need to sync the users with joomla. Correct?

It should, that will depend on the migration tool.

You'll have to ask at phpBB or the developer's site for the migrator.

    • I've successfully converted vbulletin 3.8.1 to phpbb3.0.4. Took me all day but I got it :D .

I have one question. The phpbb3 skin I'm using is the default. I'd like to use perihelion theme, i'd also like to sync joomla & phpbb3.

My question is what do I do first... throw the skin on and then sync using rokbridge... or do i sync first and then throw the skin on?

      Thanks.

    • You do not have to sync with joomla, when using rokbridge the synching is done on login.
