Well, in the end I decided not to go with it. The main reason is because my market is in China, thus I'm using a (very fast) VPS on the mainland. The Facebook Connect was slowing down my site significantly, because Facebook access from China is spotty (sometimes fast, sometimes slow).

That sounds good. Do you know if you can use Facebook Connect plus the Joomla+RokBridge+phpBB all together?
Just one facebook login to either login to phpBB or Joomla?
Yes, the connect function will work as you need, quite painlessly. Basically, it works like this:
1. Users click 'register with Facebook'
2. They get sent to a page where they must choose a user name and email address (Facebook does not give out these details via their API).
3. Joomla 'sucks in' their Facebook avatar and registers them
4. If you have Rokbridge installed, they will therefore be auto registered for PHPbb3 also
** Something else you need to do to make this work is create a new database, and install some Facebook tables. It's a bit complicated if you've never created tables before (I hadn't), but not so hard to figure out.
