SEF and I had a little brawl! (It LOST)

    • Ive been attempting for sometime to get a 3rd party SEF extension to work on my site. This has just not worked in the slightest! The default joomla! SEF settings work perfect.

I have tried OpenSEF and Artio and the when the new redirects are created, the page gets a 404 error

      Any Ideas? ???

      Ummmmm, RTFM?

I've used both of those in the past without any problems. There are so many things to check though, anything would be a guess. In the long run I ended up removing opensef due to traffic levels. The way it pulled URL's from the DB was rather inefficient. There was a release promised that was going to fix it, then the project got abandoned.

I though I read somewhere that 1.5 will have <section><catagory><title> built in.

    • I believe I read a similar statement somewhere about 1.5 - If so, I will just leave it until then. Its not important, just annoying when something does not work, read the instructions to no avail.

      O well, Thanks anyway Mack

Did you change Joomla's .htaccess file accordingly? 3rd party SEF components need different statements there. This is documented in the .htaccess file. Basically you comment out one part and activate another.

I've never had any problems with getting OpenSEF running. If you don't get it working, tell a bit more about your configuration.

      Kind regards,
      Zorro

    • Is it a problem if the the Joomla! site is running from a subdomain for example, my site is test.mysite.com ?

I read the contents of the file but it confused me :D

    • At least you won't make the same mistakes again now ;) I still remember the first time I was enabled a 3rd party SEF component.. took me ages to work it all out.

      Good stuff!
