    Deleted Entire Site by Mistake

Posted 14 years 8 months ago
    • Hello Joomla Users!

I just made a terrible mistake. I deleted my entire site. I have a shared hosting account with Godaddy and I was using my FTP program to upload a new site. The problem was that I deleted the wrong site. I still have the MySql database but all the other folders for that site are gone. Can I still use the old database and recuperate some of my old content? Thanks for your help!

    • Hi esaumd,

All is not lost. You can ftp the Joomla files and any component, module, and plugin files but this can be a long winded process and any files in wrong directories will create problems.

If I were in your shoes I would create a fresh install of Joomla then add any template, components, modules etc. that were on the original site. At this point I would then go to the Joomla configuration file and change the database details to match your previous database.

      Hope this helps
