I currently work with joomla and rocket theme templates, and have recently became more interested in gantry. So I am working with these items in a somewhat none technical way. I do code a very little and have recently been starting to educate myself to get better at customizing or even creating my own templates .
My question is, what and in what order do you guys suggest I learn in order to start creating my own templates? HTML? CSS? JavaScript? PHP? MySql? Etc...
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The best way I think to start is get a good understanding of the building blocks "HTML" then you need to make your html look pretty with CSS then move to PHP/javascript for interactivity on your website.
I use lynda.com for all my self learning, it hosts a massive database of video tutorials including Joomla, html,css and php.
