Okay, first off I know that I can look at Joomalopolis for help (trust me, I have), but the fact is that after having spent hours digging for answers (they have so many abandoned threads) I just want to know if somebody here has an answer.
I am trying to set up my user's profiles within community builder to show the Messages tab. I have checked thru the CB component and the uddeIM component a million times, trying various settings along the way.
So, has anyone here managed to get the MESSAGE tab or any of the other tabs up and working?

kinda broad general open question there Ray......... what is your tabs doing that they dont work?? are they just not showing up or are you getting errors??
there is no message tab with a component like uddeIM.....when you visit another persons profile you are given the opportunity to "send" a message, when they recieve it, you can have it appears as an animated mail icon in their login module,,, or as an ajax banner that will appear at the bottom of their screen alerting them they have new mail.
but with UddeIM,, the most obvious way is to use your CB Login Module,,open that mod and look at the settings.. towards the bottom it will ask which PM system you use, and how you want to handle some features,,, set that up the way you want,,, but if you do it one way ,, your members will be able to access new messages at the login module.

If you take a look at this profile on Joomlopolis http://www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_comprofiler/task,userProfile/user,26142/tab,getProfileGalleryTab/ you will see the tabs that I am referring to.
With regards to selecting the PM system used, I am a little unsure about which setting to choose. It seems that the Populus rocket launcher came with both uddeIM & PMS MyPMS and Pro. If I select anything other than uddeIM on that option, I get an "unauthorized to view this resource" message (I suppose that suggests that some module is not published?).
Please let me know what other info I need to provide to alleviate this issue.

yer right !! it can work as that way in CB.. I just looked at my site and it does I just never noticed it
If you are getting A not authorized message 50% of the time it is unpublished or not installed,,, and the other 50% of the time is access restriction based on users group status..... but I assume you are logged in as admin and are still getting that message ,, so yea,,, check for something unpublished

OMG!!!! I finally figured it out. It took forever, but it is solid now!!
Ensure you have the following settings to have PRIVATE MESSAGES show up profiles.
SITE MODULES: in mod_cblogin make sure PRIVATE MESSAGING SYSTEM is set to uddeIM
In COMPONENTS->COMMUNITY BUILDER->PLUG-IN MANAGEMENT make sure that you have PMS COMPONENT TYPE set to uddeIM 5.0
ummm, I think that is it. Seems simple I know, but hell, even on the CB website ppl are lost.
Let me know if changing these settings doesn't make it 100% and I will double check the other stuff to see if I left something out.

look further into the uddeIM threads on joomopolis... the uddeIM project has been resumed and is up to version 0.8 ( or something similar),, anyways there is a snippet of code and a few files you can DL ,,... purely for update and maintenance .. but follow the instructions well...
since this is solved and your on your way to making this work,,, I would resume any further discussion on the Joomopolis forum
