Adrian I to am eager to get more feedback on RocketThemes transition plans to Joomla! 1.6 as well. RT team, fantastic job on Dominion and Gantry 2.0 by the way. Any words to let us know how on top of the transition to 1.6 you are would be greatly appreciated

- I don't think it's safe to say 1.6 is any way fixed. When we start to see some RC releases, we will look more closely at it. Right now we are keeping an eye on things, but there's really no point in doing anything until we have a stable target to shoot at.

I guess it is the old "chicken and egg" situation.
Do we wait a couple of months to gain the benefits of 1.6 on a new start but no RT templates to use, or do we start out with 1.5 and the latest and greatest RT templates with no clear timescale for upgrading both 1o 1.6?
On balance the RT template is more important to me than 1.6 right now, so I guess the latter is the way to go.
I know you guys will be on the develoipment curve anyway - just hope that the templating in 1.5 and 1.6 are close enough not to cause too much work. - www.ourultimatereality.com

- FYI, 1.6 is still very much in a test stage, it's certainly nothing I would build an actual site on yet.

I have seen anything from 2 months to 6 months for a first release candidate.
I guess we will have to wait and see. In the meantime I will go with 1.5 so I can get on with my sites using the new generation RT themes.

Thanks Andy for giving us some feedback. My hopes that we will see a stable release candidate in late February to late March now sounds more like we are looking at a date further out than that. But a strong 1.6 is better than an early one that has lots of bugs in it.
Please keep us posted as a lot of us put stock in you and the RocketTheme team. I know there is a lot of talk out there but I'm pretty sure your guess on the time frame for a stable release is closer than most. Care to take a stab at a date?

Yes Joomla 1.6 is out since January 10,
the RC1 was released on 13 December of last year.
