may I suggest that u setup a mibbit client on this site to access the server. it's ajax, works almost on all platforms with no extra download and highly customizeable.
me and Toastguy from #joomla will gladly help u guys set it up and also with some hacks its possible to integrated it with joomla user authentication to auto use the name that's used on the forums.

i would be interested in setting up a js/ajax type client. Would prefer if it was something i could download and install locally rather than relying on hosted solutions.
Go for it Andy...also, maybe more than just one room...a 3-5 room chat would be cool. This way you can choose what room to hang out in or not hang out in. :cheesy:

We would like to have this so we can help current members when we are actively looking at a problem. Since we have MODS are over the world it is a good chance one of us will be on.

Curious answer. I'm not sure who 'us' are, but I guess you refer to the RocketTheme team. However, considering you own invitation

On the other hand Skype is. It's widely accepted and many people have it installed and know how to use it. Why bother installing and learning another piece of software? Using a more modern and more versatile application, might lower the barrier to participate and throws in some additional, convenient features as well like peer to peer file transfer and voice communication.
