    Category Blog Layout

Posted 14 years 10 months ago
    • Hi there!

I have a big problem and I would like somebody to help me.
In the main menu I set the default Home menu point to Category blog layout, and there are some modules (for example the latest forum comment, or online users, etc.) which are visible only on the front page, so on the Home menu point.
My problem is, when I press the read more button of an article on the front page, that article loads on the same Home menu point, so the enumerated modules remains visible. I would like that these articles to load on a separate menu point, when the modules are not visible.
How can I do it. I am using the Quantive template, but I tried also with the Dominion, unsuccessfully.

      Thank you for help!

    • I checked the post and tried it, but still no success. I am getting crazy of this.
Am I using the Quantive template with sample data installed. In my main menu there are 2 menu points: Home and Articles. The Home one is set to Category blog layout (4 articles in 1 column with no leading artcles and links). I chose the About Joomla/The CMS category for it. There are also some modules which are visible only on this menu point.
The Articles menu point is also set to Category blog layout for the same (The CMS) category (10 articles in 2 columns).
And here comes the trick: I created a new article in the "The CMS" category. If I click on the read more button of this article on the home page, the full article loads in the same "Home" menu point and all the unnecessary modules remains visible.
BUT if I click on the read more button of one of the sample articles (which are also in the same The CMS category), the full articles loads on no menu point, so the modules are no longer visible (this is what I need!!).
      What could be the problem?

    • Hi Erik,

      You have to:

      1. create a menu item that does not have these modules (from your home or front page) published on it.
      2. Then in your Gantry template manager > rt_quantive_j15 scroll down to the lower right select or click advanced.
3.Turn on menu-pages and select the new menu item (created in step # 1) from the drop down list (next to the menu-less pages toggle switch)
      4. If you turn on menu-less pages and leave it set to 'Home' it will not help your situation.

    • Still doesn't works. I tell you, what I managed to do:
      1. I created a new menu item ("Articles"). There is a module ("Who's Online") which is only visible on the "Home" menu point which is set as default menu point.
      2. In the template manager I turned on the menu-less pages and I selected the "Articles" menu point for it.
      3. I cleared the cache and tried if it works, but it doesn't...
When the home page loads the "Home" menu point is the active one and the Who's Online module is visible. When I click on the read more button of an article on the home page, the full article loads, but the "Home" menu point remains active, so the module is still visible. What did I wrong?
