We need to split up! Joomla 1.5/1.6 posts

    • It would be a lot less confusing to some (including me) if the RT gods could split the 1.5 vs. 1.6 posts before it becomes too cumbersome to do so.

With the changes to the new version, some of the fixes and workarounds for 1.5 can (and as I have quickly discovered WILL) break a 1.6 site.

Just a thought, as if you guys don't have enough to do around here.

      Thanks,
      Carol

    • In theory, a good practice, in reality....

What really needs to happen is for members to post proper details (in their original post), i.e., which version they are using, J1.5, J1.6, etc. (See #3)

      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=15&t=36997&rb_v=viewtopic

(You may have noticed some, if not all moderators have added this to their signatures.)

Many times, members post in the proper forum, but the wrong section, e.g., 'Tutorials and Guides', or 'Solved Threads' instead of the 'Support' section.

We try to catch as many of these as we can, but some fall through the cracks.

At this point, if we split the forums between J1.5 & J1.6, I think that would only add to the confusion.

Plus, J1.6 has a really short life...

You may see this split happen later on when J1.7 or j1.8 comes out; separate forums for J1.5 and J1.7-8, like the old days when there were separate forums for J1.0 & J1.5.

But for now, we can only hope and pray members are proactive in posting proper details.

(Which helps avoid the lag in support by having to ask for links, versions, etc.)

As always, Empowermom, thanks for your input. :D
