"test" in rocketlauncher

Forgive me if this is the wrong place for this question.
What is the "test" directory in a rocketlauncher package? I don't recall seeing this directory in the past. Is it a 1.7 thing? ...or is it something new?
I just want to understand its purpose... thanks
