Menu parameters not working on Home page meta title?

Posted 13 years 2 months ago
    • Hi,

I don't know if you guys can help with this one, because I'm not convinced it's template related - but it might be component related?

I was doing the SEO on my site and I noticed that my Home page meta title had changed. And I've no idea why or when it happened, but I'm sure it's a niggly setting somewhere.

I checked the menu (Home > Parameters (system) > Page Title ... and my title is in there looking good, with Show Page Title set to No and SSL Enabled set to Ignore.

So I checked Global Configuration > Site Name ... and what I have in there is what's showing on my site as the home page meta title. So for some reason my global site name is over-riding my page title set in the menu > Parameters

It looks like the Home page (system parameters) aren't working properly. All other pages are working fine. So something seems broken in the home page title setting, and I can't figure out what's causing it.

For info, I'm using Nebulae template on Joomla 1.5 with SEF URLs activated, Apache rewrite activated and add suffix to url turned off. I've also got ninja board and gcalendar installed on it. In the past I've installed Meta Menu and Tag Meta, neither of which worked properly so I've uninstalled them since then. I think I also have Jinc and some other components in there, K2 of course etc.

Ideally some tips on how to manually change the meta code on a home page would work for me, or a simple fix it on that one page would be perfect. But I'm also happy to go routing around in the database if it'll fix it, I just can't figure out which jos setting to change, without globally naffing up my whole website.

So I guess my question is: Is there a way to change the Home Page Meta Title only, that doesn't harm other pages and won't be over-ridden by the global settings?

Or Is there a way to fix my menu link Home, so it actually works properly?

Any help with this would be great, and hopefully I can get it fixed before Googlebot drops by again :)

    • Just a note, i fixed this issue by adding sh404sef to my site. It's a bit of work to get it setup, but well worth it :)
