    Modifying Offline Page

Posted 12 years 10 months ago
    • I know about offline.php / offline.css etc

My question is what is best practice ? I understood from reading on line that you should copy these files from the templates/system directory into the template/mytemplate directory and modify these copies rather than the templates/system version. The logic for this being that they get overwritten on a core update. I also understood that Joomla will look in the "mytemplate" directory first rather than going for the default.

Problem is on my install this doesn't seem to work. Whatever I do it pulls the offline.php from the templates/system directory. Am I missing something ?

As far I can tell I can even delete the offline.php file it pulls something from somewhere but ignores the offline.php in my template directory.

I see you can edit versions of these files from the Tachyon template I am using so I'm presuming that is the way to go. Just hope they don't get overwritten with a template update too...

    • I am sure that those files will be overwritten with the template updates also if you do the automatic template update. If you do manual template update by applying changes from a change log manually you will be able to avoid this
