Adding a new article to Omnicron frontpage

Hi
I am quite new to using joomla. I have recently installed the omnicron rocketlauncher and evrything went well first time around, site looks great, and is exactly like the demo. however now I am starting to play around with the template trying to get it to look the way I want it to but Im having trouble customizing.
- Firstly I am trying to add an article to the home page above the feature table, bbut am unable to do so, and getting some weird results, guess I dont know what Im doing in terms of positioning or adding a new module for the content.
- secondly, can anyone please recommend good tutorials for resources to help me learn how to better work with rocket theme tempates, I have browsed through alot of the rocket theme tuts and videos, doesnt seem to go quite into detail on these topics to help me reach the level I need to be at.

Jarrads,
The RT tutorials are tutorials on how to use RocketTheme templates not how to use Joomla. If you go to joomla.org you will find forums and tutorials there.
There are also help files by selecting "Help" in your Joomla Admin panel. But not of these go into depth on on the organization of content or creation of things, etc.
Online you can find lots of free tutorials, blogs etc. on Joomla, that's probably your best bet.
As for the positioning of content and modules study Module Positions under Features in you template to better understand placement of content.
In short, all articles are placed in the Mainbody of your template. Additional content, text, images, video, etc. can be placed in a number of available module positions.
