Gantry update - table CSS issue?

Posted 12 years 10 months ago
    • Hi rt people,

I have a multi-rockettheme-template site. I'm not sure where to place this support request because
it is a very odd thing and it only recently started to happen following one of the last Gantry updates.

Templates: Tachyon and 2 other rt- templates all reflect the same behavior.

site: is J2.5+ migrated over the past year from 1.6x to recent everything (rocketheme/joomla!)

CSS: The CSS is stock, and when I edit I make comments each time. All of the templates have been upgraded to most recent. All of the CSS was manually compared to the original styles the client
had during our j1.6 days... I have spent hours with a fine tooth comb and have also utilized code / text comparison apps just to make certain I haven't missed anything. There are probably less than 10 CSS edits in total, and mostly colors.

      The issue:
There are only a few <tables> inside the client created text fields/articles. They use stock CSS. Nothing fancy, 2 column tables with 2 px borders.

      Odd behavior:
All of the tables are fine, UNTIL someone edits the text inside of a table.
      Then, all the borders disappear.

When I firebug the CSS, it shows a gantryxyz comp file...and when I read, I can't really tell
why the table borders are going away, when they exist before editing. (yes, border 0 and collapse)
but, this never effected the tables before, so I thought.

So far, my client will call, I will check out the table and will add cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"
      and the borders come back.

I've checked out all the editors and tested each one, TMK not what is causing this.

I suppose what has me stumped is:
      1. why do the existing tables all show borders with their current stock tags and elements?
      2. why are the borders disappearing after an edit?

      Any feedback welcome!
      Thank you,
      Doc

    • 1. why do they show? I would guess because they are set to show it
      2. why do the disappear? I would guess that you will need to explain your client how to properly use HTML editor to set those cellspacing and cellpadding corretcly

Those are not CSS issue that you have. Those are client issue and inability to properly use editor 8)
