    • I have problem with my site beeing very slow to load. I am hosted by Rochen that is good normally, but the site still takes a long time to load. 15 to 20 seconds before a response from the server, it is certainly not normal.

      Template: Voxel
      Joomla: 2.5.7

I've try with Rokbooster on, but I do not see real difference. Does someone can give me a hand?

    • You will have to check with your hosting what is going on with your server

    • I made the verifications with rochenhost and everything seems correct on their side.

      Here is their response :
We've been reviewing your site at various points thoughout the day and the delay noted above does seem to be rather consistent. That often indicates that you have a remote include (such as a twitter feed, weather data, an rss feed, etc.) that's causing a delay in the rendering of your page. For comparison purposes, please perform a clean Joomla install in a subdomain under your account and then provide us with the admin URL and superuser username/password if you still see those delays with a clean install, thanks.

I made the following four tests demonstrating that there is no problem with the server.

I tested on the same account and here is the response time for each:

1 - Default joomla 2.5 Template (689ms), the server is effectively very fast
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

2 - The Voxel RocketLaucher without modification (1,51s)
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

3 - My website without plugins that have have a remote include (Facebook, Mailchimp, gcalendar) (6,92s)
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

      4 - The complete site (8,95s)

So, when I disable the plugins GCalendar, Facebook and MailChimp, I actually saved 2 seconds. There is still 5 seconds difference between my site and RocketLaucher that I can not understand.

Does someone another avenue of research for me?

    • Check also your system joomla plugins, do you use webfonts feature in the template config, check for anything that fetches additional data from remote servers. For example, K2 extension by default is configured to use jQuery JS library from Google remote server. I am not saying that you use K2 (maybe you do?). I am just giving you an example of things you should check 8)

    • I still have problems to improve the speed of this site. Everything that has been said in the last post is still true. I even reduced the number of image and compress images even more. No difference. It seems that I lack knowledge to solve this problem. Is that RocketTheme offers a paid service to solve this type of problem?

    • Template: Voxel
      Joomla: 2.5.8

I did turn off all kinds of CSS and HTML-compression for debugging.

    • Slow-Loading of Site

      Cause: Social Bookmark plugin

Thanks to this thread I was able to track down the root cause of a similar issue, being:
slow start-up of site, and slow loading of pages.

Frederic's host suggested a possible cause was a social extension that may hinder loading as it tries to fetch info off other servers. Indeed, In my case the culprit was the third-party extension Nice Social Bookmark (NSB). This does not mean NSB is a bad extension (I like it very much), but it does suggest more forensics is needed as to which exact social link may slow things down. A similar case may happen with other social media plugins...

      Hope this helps others!

    • I FOUND MY PROBLEM AND PERHAPS IT MIGHT HELP YOU:
After reading various posts about the template, I changed to another template and the website sped up considerably. I then did some investigating and found the index.php of the template has been HACKED and there was EVAL() and BASE 64() code in there! As soon as I put in a "clean" version of the PHP, the website was back to normal! Hope this helps someone.
