Custom mod_login changes NOT showing

Hello,
My client is using the Ximenia theme (version 1.0) in a Joomla 2.5 installation.
I have been asked to trigger an event whenever the submit button is hit on the core login screen.
I have copied the mod_login folder to /templates/rt_ximenia/html/mod_login
I have made simple changes to the default.php file just to make sure it's the right file. However, my changes are not being reflected when the screen is called.
Is there any kind of a tool that will help me to figure out where the /index.php/login-page.html is being called from?
The login is being called when someone clicks on an image that has a link to another page which is only allowed to be shown to members of certain groups (based upon the permissions settings in Joomla). But, I have to believe it's the same login code that would be called if I clicked on a login button.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
