    Images across site suddenly broken

Posted 12 years 3 months ago
    • My site has been running smoothly for years on Joomla 1.5.
I have not upgraded yet as the server is PHP 5.2.0 +8
      [url removed]

All of a sudden, when I looked at the site this morning, my images were not displaying any more. They are on the server, the path is relative but they just don't display in ANY browser.

When I try to add/refresh them in JCE, they do not want to display even in the pop-up.
I suspected it might be JCE Editor but I could not upgrade to the latest versions because of the poor old PHP - so I am running quite an old JCE. But how can all the images suddenly break?

Any help would be appreciated. I am at a loss!!

    • hi there,

when i check your site with chrome developers console, i am getting 500 server errors for those missing images. i think you should contact your host to see what is going on.

    • Thanks for your quick response Kat

I suspect the same even though the files are there if I access them via FTP.

Will report back when I have a final answer from the host.

    • Turns out I had a hack attempt due to an unstable version of the JCE plugin. A bogus .htaccess file was copied into the images folder. NASTY!

Cleaned and fixed the site and all is well again. Yuck!
Hope this can help someone else with the same problem in future.

I am definitely urging my host to move me to an upgraded PHP server.
