The template cannot display correctly (CSS problem?) Solved

  • The template cannot display correctly (CSS problem?) Solved

    • Hi,

I am experiencing this problem. The template does not load correctly. I started to notice the problem when I tried to put a website that I am developing (using the Alerion template) online. I have tried modifying the settings, the template showed up ok occationally (looked like improvement...) but the issues kept bugging me from time to time, especially when I am using IE. I then deleted everything that I have uploaded and tried putting a Chapelco template Rocket Launcher website, and below is what happened straight after installation...

When I use the Joomla Beez5 or Beez20 templates everything looks ok.

Any idea what has gone wrong? Is it all due to the CSS not loading correctly? The webhost can only provide PHP 5.2.14 and I am also wondering if the PHP settings that they provide is the cause for this issue...

Thanks in advance!!! My head is spinning since the issue came out!!!...... :( I really love the Rockettheme templates and the developing website that I mentioned earlier has spent me ages so I really hope that I don't need to work from the beginning again...

(p.s. I am also wondering whether it is the file and folder permission settings that restrict the LESS files?)

    • You cannot use neither Joomla 2.5/3.0 nor Alerion template with PHP 5.2. Not only does RT not work on PHP 5.2, neither does Joomla: www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html

On some setups you might get away with using PHP 5.2 but anything lower than 5.3 is just asking for trouble.

There could also be a plethora of other server deficiencies. The fact that your server uses PHP 5.2 leads me to believe that there may be many Apache modules necessary for modern website apps that you don't have enabled.

    • Oh, thanks... Then I might have to go back to Joomla 1.5... :(

Actually, does anybody know which latest template from Rockettheme can I use for PHP 5.2? Joomla says the minimum requirement for joomla 2.5 is 5.2.4+ so it might still work with the webhost my client has registered...

    • The best thing to do is ask your host how you can use a newer PHP version.

It's not a matter of what templates will work because as updates are rolled out, things will change, so you'd just kind of be waiting for your site to break on an update if you build to suit PHP 5.2.

Sometimes it's as easy as an htaccess line of code or the host can help you add a php.ini file to make it use the newer version.

    • Thanks! :) Now my Web Host has upgraded their server to support PHP 5.3. I am encountering another problem. :frown:

    • Now that it's upgraded, make sure to clear cache for everything and give it another try.
