Multiple Templates on Site Changed By URL Parameter

  • Multiple Templates on Site Changed By URL Parameter

Posted 11 years 11 months ago
    • I am needing to setup a site where I have my main site with template, and depending on the url the end user types in, they pull up the same site with a different template/style.

I believe this concept is similar to how rockettheme handles their preset style switcher on the demo site.

I have added the parameter (which I thought was correct) on my site, however as soon as I click another link, the style reverts to the original template.

      www.contractor-licensing.com/index.php?template=rt_enigma_j15

      Regards,

      Tom

    • Actually, if you check our demo web site and template style switchers you will see that we use the following URL parameter
      ?presets=preset1

      So, URL should be
      http://www.example.com/index.php?presets=preset1

    • Thank you for getting back to me Igor.

Can this same principle be applied using completely different templates instead of just presets?

    • No they don't, joomla supports &template=templatename however many rockettheme templates do not work when applied this way.

There's a reason for this. It can be considered a site vulnerability. If you use Akeeba Admin Tools, you'll see there is a setting to make this not possible.
