template styles (all templates) not accessible, error: unable to access xml

I'm not sure this is even a question for this forum but I'll give it a shot...
I can't get into any of the template styles. error says xml file not accessible. (in admin backend)
the file permissions are set to 777
any thoughts?

any way to not loose the dozens of hours of work put in?

If you just install on top of the already installed template and you don't remove it first, everything will stay intact. The same applies for the Gantry also.
Of course, you will create website backup using Akeeba backup first - Check my services at: Mihha-Vision
