It's not working for you because that poster had a different RokSprocket module so you need some different code. Change what you have to:
.sprocket-strips-s-content .readon { display:none !important; } .sprocket-features-desc .readon { display:none !important; }

Hey @DanG sorry for hijacking. I tried your CSS and it works to remove Read Me, but it also renders the feature or strip unclickable to go to the applied link. Any ideas to allow hyperlink function? Thanks.
