Security using htaccess via Admin Tools htaccess Maker

    • I know Admin Tools is a primary extention for many sites and hoping someone could shed some light into a problem I've been having for a few weeks.

Using the htaccess maker of AT I created and adjusted the file so it works almost perfectly. However I'm experiencing two related problems when using the htaccess file created by Admin Tools:

      1. I can not upload images using the Joomla Media Manager - i can go through the process of selecting an image on my computer, and it acts like it uploads, but then no file is actually placed in the image folder. I've tested this wil multiple file types, folders, and checked the folder permissions.

      2. On the Joomla Control Panel home screen, under Maintenance in the lower left corner, it says "Unkonwn Joomla!" and "Unknown extensions"

If I swap out the htaccess file with a the stock version that comes with Joomla, these two items respond correctly, but then my site is not as secure as it could be.

I've contacted Admin tools support who basically said that the template or a plugin has changed the way media manager handles images and is trying to put them through a directly web accessible .php file. I need to figure out what that php file is called and where it is located to add it to the excpetions list in htaccess to allow it through. Or can anyone answer this without the troubleshooting.

All extentions on my site are either RocketTheme or Akeeba and I am using RokBooster if that makes a difference.

All of the instructions I've seen for diagnosing these problems are related to the front end, where as my problem is on the admin site of the site.
