Callisto Menu Issues in Joomla

I have a customer that is using the Callisto template for their site, but are having an issue I cannot resolve.
They are using the factory menu, with custom color palette. However, when the drop-down menu comes down, there is a large white block with no text until you hover over it. Where do I go to edit the code for these colors?
Secondly, on a mobile device, the three lines for the menu appear over an image making it hard to see. How can I either add a white box around the menu icon or add a white space separator above the image for the menu to sit in?
