SOLVED Main Menu not displaying in rt_ionosphere

Posted 8 years 10 months ago
    • Hello,

I have had rt_ionosphere running on ricetaekwondo.com for years. My web host recently "migrated servers" and they botched it to a considerable degree. After moving servers, I cannot get the main manu to display in the "Navigation-a" position. In fact, I can't get it to display in ANY Position. The Main Menu module is not published, or it shows up in horrible formatting. The template is configured with the "Menu Control = on", and no matter what position I put it in it won't display.

      Thoughts?

    • The hosting provider has come back with these remarks to my support ticket:

      ---
This is very strange, the server elements of the site actually generate the html the joomla and in turn php processes generate the HTML, the display on the frontend is then effected by javascript. In this case I don’t see any errors on the frontend, however in the javascript console I see the following:

ReferenceError: Class is not defined gantry-morearticles.js:6:4
      TypeError: window.addEvent is not a function gantry-inputs.js:26:44
      TypeError: Function.attempt is not a function browser-engines.js:9:0
      TypeError: window.addEvent is not a function load-transition.js:26:0
TypeError: window.addEvent is not a function

The javascript is directly influenced by the settings in the application or direct edits in the javascript files, it can also be effected by cache files. Are you able to clear the joomla cache?
      ---

I've cleared the Joomla cache multiple times, and the Gantry cache. Any help or insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks.

    • You didn't have roknavmenu installed? So I installed it and now the menu works.

Please note that Joomla no longer support J2.5.28 and you should update as soon as convenient. Also your Ionosphere template is way out of date on v1.2 so you should update that first to v1.11.

If you want to upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.x these are the steps to follow:

      1. backup backup backup!
      2. make sure that you meet the system requirements for J3.x (min php 5.3.10).
      3. check that al RT products are on latest versions (gantry, rt extensions and template) update any that aren't and clear server cache and browser cache. Check that RT template you are using is compatible with Joomla 3.x http://www.rockettheme.com/joomla-templates-compatibility-matrix . You can check all current version numbers in extension manager > manage. Please note if you are using "mission control" admin template that you need to uninstall this by following these special instructions http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/missioncontrol-joomla-admin-template/235181-important-information-about-uninstalling-mission-control .
      4. check all your third-party extensions are up to date and that they are compatible with J3.x
      5. test test test! to make sure anything you updated does still work ok
      6. backup backup backup!
      7. disable "system - remember me" plugin in extension manager > plugins
      8. update to J3.x and clear server and browser cache again.
      9. test test test!
      10. backup backup backup!
      11. re-enable "system - remember me" plugin.

      Regards, Mark.

    • That's odd. I don't recall having to install it separately from the template/Gantry before. As it worked on the previous server I have to imagine it was installed there, and got moved with the copy/backup/restore process the hosting provider conducted.

Thanks for your assistance in this, Mark. I REALLY appreciate it.

    • You have no RT extensions installed at all on that site. The only one I added was roknavmenu. Roknavmenu would normally be installed as part of a rocketlauncher package but not with a stanalone template or bundle package (also other Rt extensions too).
