Ambrosia integrate with wordpress blog CorePHP

We are using the Ambrosia template, gantry 5, running Joomla 3.6.2. We are trying to integrate our wordpress blog into this template.
We attempted to install CorePHPs Wordpress to Joomla Integration extension and couldn't get it to work. The pages were all blank. It works fine with other templates, so we were told by CorePHP it is Rockettheme's code that stands in the way. What can we do to make this work? We love RT's theme framework and don't want to change. If we need to add something to the code, how do we protect those edits from being overwritten in an update? Is there a way to make a custom child theme in Joomla like there is in Wordpress?

- Why simply don't you use WordPress and theme from RT for WordPress and that's it no need to make a bridge for it ....
