[Closed] php 7.0 and Allowed memory size exhausted

    • Thanks. I updated rockcommon and that fixed the php7 incompatibility. Unfortunately the new rockgallery seems to work differently from the old one and completely changed the appearance and operation of the pages. However using the new rockcommon with the old gallery generates no errors and keeps the appearance of the pages intact.

    • ok... I may have written too soon.

The admin site of the old rockgallery does give errors. After the upgrade, there are the above mentioned front site display problems and even on the admin side it will not allow to display all galleries, only the first 12. The more button is not functional.

    • Don't mix versions - it won't work. If you use latest rokcommon you must use latest rokgallery or roksprocket.

There should be no difference in how the rokgallery appears between versions.

So. If you're having issues with rokgallery appearance I don't know what those difference might be.

Also, I not you have no current subscription at the moment, support does require a current subscription - then I would be happy to look at the issue for you.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Well .. for now it is easier for me to install 5.6.31 again and move back to the working versions - but regardless in your free time, please check
1, why no more than 12 galleries can be displayed in the new gallery admin (possibly coming from a database made by an older version) - 2, why galleries cover up menu and other graphical elements in the new version but not in the old (I use the momentum theme, so the gallery is in the background) - 3, why the plugin upgrades are not offered in wordpress automatically.

Now you may of course dismiss these as non-existent issues and I won't blame you, but I'm running 100+ wp installations with different templates and environments and I can usually spot user errors and these aren't.

    • I don't see any of those issues on my installations. As I said, suport does require a subscription though - then I'd happily look at your site for you.

    • well ... a few other problems came up with the momentum theme so I did renew the subscription ...

Basically I wanted to switch the site over to PHP7 and I downloaded all the latest versions of the RT plugins and the theme and uploaded them to the working site. I overwrote all my customizations, so what you see on the screenshots that I attached is the pure RT theme and plugins with data coming from the database of the old site.

I wrote about some of the problems earlier, but here is the full list of what I found so far:

1, HTTPS version of a page is missing all header and customization data.
2, Gallery admin is not working. Gallery entries are displayed randomly in the 1st row. The other rows look ok, but loading the rest of the galleries is not possible. It is also not possible to edit any of the galleries. I think javascript completely stopped working in the gallery admin
3, On the public side, the gallery text is covered up by the other content on the page. Sometimes the content rolldown is triggered, but doesn't complete fully and the content and gallery fight for visibility resulting in flashing content.

I think I could live with the old version if HTTPS worked, so possibly that is the biggest problem.

      Thanks

    • 1. For HTTPS to work you would need to ensure this is a proper site on a proper server otherwise the SSL certificate is not going to tie up to your domain.
      2. Then you would need to change the settings site urls to https instead of http.
      3. You will need to redirect all http requests to https in your htacess file too - this will explain how http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress
      4. Then you will need to clear cache.

At the moment your site gives cross domain blocking errors when you try to use https - That is because you haven't done above.

    • Thank you. I will try that, but believe me I tested everything, including what you pointed out before, and mainly to be able to test the gallery problems I set it up to work properly on http . So if you have a change to look at that and offer an opinion, I will set up all references to https and test again.

      Thank you
