SOLVED Changing the name of the admin folder...possible?
Posted 6 years 11 months ago
RT,
Just a quick question, is it possible to change the folder name of "Administrator?" Before I chnage this (first time ever needing to) just wanted to read about and I literally cannot find a good article or explanation on how to do it, or if it's even possible.
A new client has a few sites I've built off of RT Joomla installs and the server company says the admin login is getting hammered...I spent the morning passwording the admin login page so someone has to login before they can access the page...but I thought maybe changing the admin login page could help even further...
Maybe change: sitename.com/administrator
to
This: sitename.com/bosslogin
Didn't know if it was as easy as changing the folder name, or if it was an insane set of things to make it happen...wanted to read about it and I can't find a single article (I could be searching with the wrong words or descriptions)...but it's my first time needing to do this...
Administrator secret URL parameter.
You can only see the administrator login page if you append ?secretWord to the URL (the secret word is customisable)
Yeah, I passworded the folder in cpanel...hopefully this takes care of the MySQL and CPU usage issues...Seems the admin login was getting hammered on quite a few sites. Did this for all of them...
