password protect the entire site

  • password protect the entire site

    • I did some searching but I can't seem to find a way to password protect my entire site other then changing the settings to restricted on everything except the login box. Maybe that's the best way.

      Any alternatives?

Its a family site full of photo's and videos and I don't want just anybody coming by and getting to the content.

      Thanks

    • Password Protect the Root directory, that way only your family members and others you share the user name and password with will have access to the website. If you don't know how to do this, your hosting company should be able to walk you through this simple process.

    • Thanks, that was another option I was looking at as i can easily setup .htaccess but I was curious to find out if joomla had an option for this.

    • Hi,

I would recommend to protect it with .htaccess 2
