installation error with Replicant RocketLauncher template pa

Hi,
I have tried many times to install the Replicant RocketLauncher template package. When I attempt to install sample data, I get the following error message:
the xml response returned from the server cannot be procesesd
and then it gives the same error when I try to auto generate my ftp path. I go onto the last screen about naming and configuring my new site and once I press next, I get the following error:
Notice: Undefined index: DBtype in /home/jeanette/public_html/octsite/installation/installer/models/model.php on line 764
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: getnulldate() in /home/jeanette/public_html/octsite/installation/installer/helper.php on line 290
I go back to the installation and it tells me to remove the installation directory even though I know that it wasn't installed properly. I have tried deleting the database and starting over by re-uploading the template and all the Joomla 1.5.7 files but the same thing happens.

I skipped the configuration step and manually updated my configuration file afterwards and that seemed to do the trick. Once I installed, I ran the diagnostics tool and I discovered the following errors (attached). I was very careful to copy over all the files. Is this because I installed the Replicant template and not the default Joomla template? Is there any way I can fix these errors? Everything looks fine in the front end and the back end.
I have Joomla 1.5.7 installed and the diagnostics tool was for 1.5. Is that the issue?

Yes, the diagnostics tool should be updated to 1.5.7. If everything is fine, front end and back end, you can now start to customize your site without worry.

I have run into this problem on three different sites, using three different Rocket launcher template files. What can I do to avoid the errors or at least get things loaded and running!!
Please help!
I have uploaded the file using both File Manager in Cpanel and Filezilla.
I have extracted the file using File Manager in Cpanel and extracted it first and then uploaded everything.
Nothing is making a difference

I received the same errors that Jeanette stated above

Everytime I receive the same errors and it is always after filling in the information in step 7 (site name, email and password) I do not install the Joomla sample data.
