    More opinions about components

Posted 16 years 2 months ago
    • I got some great ideas and suggestions in my security question, so I thought I'd go for broke.

After having some sites hacked a while back, I've been a bit leery of installing components since (the component was the security flaw that allowed them in). Anyway, I've had to break down and install some things (e.g. DocMan) but now I realise that I may need a few more.

I don't want to put links to people's email accounts on the site, so I was going to use the Contact module. But that has it's own issues (spam). So my question is, how do you add contact information and do you use Captcha?

I've only used PicaWeb (links to google photos) gallery on another site and was thinking of using it again on this one. This would allow remote users to upload their photos without having logins to the site. Are there better (easier) solutions?

On a related note, does running DocMan in legacy mode have any implications for security?

I can't believe how many issues launching a "real" site would raise
