I have created my first website that is to be published on the internet and I am having some issues with the menu navigation. When you first visit the page the mainmenu navigation is all in one row. If you use fiefox to navigate it the menu size changes, in terms of font and it goes to 2 lines of the menu. How do I fix this?
You need to make sure that your main menu navigation sits on one line though - I'm not seeing the problem you've described under FireFox, but I can see that the menu is needlessly overpopulated.
My first suggestion is to trash the "Application" link - you've linked to the PDF form in context along with the content that relates to it ... so it's really just taking up space.
You may also consider putting the "Directions" on the "Contact Us" page rather than having it as 2 pages.
Personally, I'd also increase your overall template width as this would give you a little more space up there.
When I try to do that the banner that I have at the top of the site looks odd. I cannot figure out how to get it centered. If I take the banner and make it bigger it just looks like shit. I like the idea of combining the directions / contact us pages. It would make more sense to have them in the same area. How would i go about ensuring that the font size of the menumain stays the same size throughout the website?
I can't replicate your report of the font size changing in the menu though - It's certainly not happening at my end, and it's not something that usually happens with RT templates ... perhaps there's a gremlin poking at your Video Processor??
I thought it may be a cookie thing on your end at first (recording a larger font size) - but that would happen site-wide, not just on specific pages of the website.
Yes, that's exactly how it looks from this end - but I checked every page looking for your reported error and every page was exactly the same - ie the font size was constant, as was the double-line menu. This is why I offered the "overpopulated menu" suggestion.
That's exactly what I'm not seeing ... and I'm not exactly sure why you are ... unless by "sometimes" you mean that it looks like pic 2 with Internet Explorer, and pic 1 with FireFox. If that's the case, I could offer a CSS-based solution which uses pixel-count sizes rather than point sizes for the fonts in the menu - but judging by your level of skill, depopulating the menu by 1 link is going to cause you FAR less trouble.
I am not afraid to go in an edit the css file. It has looked like that on both browsers. I don't know what to do. Although I am about to change the template I am using because i cannot get the side menu I created to work. No freakin idea why.
Ok - it happens in several places, so you're going to need to search the whole of the css/template_css.css file for occurrences of "font-size: 100%;" within #horiz-menu declarations and change them to something like "font-size: 14px;" or "font-size: 16px;". In a quick scan, I caught them on lines 563, 614 & 649.
However, I'd be more concerned with why you're seeing it change, and I'm seeing it constant.
To get the side menu to work, you need to make sure it is published, and in the correct module position - however, it would be better to use the menu system you selected (splitmenu) properly rather than creating a new side menu for it. Check the documentation on the TT Demo again:
