I'm trying to change the logo on a template and when I'm trying to replace the image on the server via FTP, I'm told I do not ahve permission to do this - even though I have logged in a super-user. I've also tried going in via cPanel to change the permissions and this too did not work... Please advise.
try accessing the original logo file via ftp and right-click on it. there should be an option "file attributes", change the file to read, write and execute.
This is not an option. The template was installed via Joomla and now has the incorrect permissions and I can do nothing to change that. I see that the owner and group is set to 99 for both and when I try to change this to the actual owner - like the default templates installed with the original installation, I'm told "Server said: SITE CHOWN is an unknown extension".
What do I tell them?? Joomla was installed via Fantastico perfectly. It's only after installing templates via Joomla interface that these permissions issues have come up where the permissions set by the installation process are wrong and nobody can change anything... How is that an issue for my host?
i had a similar issue before on one of my own sites, where new files where not assigned to the right owner. my host was very helpful and changed that in a few minutes, allowing me to change file permissions as i needed them to be.
