Jump to Modules (limitations of articles)

Hi All
I am new to all this and have so far worked out how to add menu's and articles. I now wish to do some things that may mean i have to jump to modules. My first question would be what are the limitations of articles?
In Articles i cant seem to Overlay text over pictures.
I cant seen to add a nice defining block around the article
Can i use Class definitions with Templates for Hilites
I know i need to jump to modules for some things such as the scrolling image windows but where can i find instructions on how to use each module as well as an example of what it does (other than the custom modules)

What template are you using?
In Articles i cant seem to Overlay text over pictures.
You should be able to add layers in your WYSIWYG editor, or edit pages in your favorite HTML editor and paste the code into Articles and Modules.

Each template has a different set of extensions or Modules, you should check the tutorials for the template you are using which include full instructions for setting up your content. - Thanks,
