ok...
1.) attempted to back up my site using lazy back up plugin
2.) host account canceled (by me)
3.) transferred to new host - attempted to restore files and database
4.) database corrupted - or something...
I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I am going to have to create this massive site from scratch. However, there's got to be something I can do with the database tables I have. Can I restore just the users (I think they are there...) is there a place to find the article content so I can copy and paste it? That alone could save me a ton of time...
Can someone please help...I'm really stressed out.

1. So you have no access to the old site?
2. 'lazy back up plugin' = ?
3. FTP? How did you attempt to restore the DB, importing through phpMyAdmin? Did you update the paths and DB configuration in the configuration.php?
4. Are you receiving any errors stating this?
1.) no access to old site - accept they said I could pay them $225 to "restore it" and send it to me...they've "deleted" it already
2.) it's a plugin which I installed and configured to email me a copy of my database every night in a password protected zip file.
3.) yes, I used phpmyadmin, yes I configured the configuration.php (the tech department said it was correct)
4.) no errors, just an empty template that shows no users, no add on extensions, no "styling", no anything that would be stored by the database...
it's almost as if it's completely ignoring it...i'm going to attempt it again on a clean account (that was adding it on to another account) and see what happens...the man who wrote lazybackup has contacted me and we will work together on it...

I tried JoomlaPack as well - but I could never get it to work. No matter how I tried adjusting the settings, including hit the button to let it do it's recommendations it never would work...maybe I'll try it again on the new site.
The awesome news is because of google caching our site, I was able to find the content for the majority of the pages. That saved a lot of time. Due to that and the ease of rokcandy styling, the site is actually back and probably 75% restored already. I really appreciate your help - because of rockettheme the situation went from bleak to sunny in only a few hours...THANKS!!

JoomlPack works for me 99% of the time out of the box.
I did have one host that caused it to be rather 'buggy' but now that I've switched hosts I've had no problem backing up a site that's over 300MB.
If Joomla is in the root, you may want to exclude non Joomla directories.
Anyway, if you can't get JoomlaPack working, you should at least get in the habit of testing your backup plan, taking the DB file and trying to restore your site on a localhost, or in a sub directory of your site.
