  • Can't Install Extensions After Folder Copy

    • Hi guys, long time, no problems I couldn't figure out on my own....

      Anyway, I have one that is kicking my butt right now. I just finished building a new version of my site, upgrading to J!1.5 with SolarSentinel. I created it in a folder under public_html called dev.

      It works well in dev, so I copied the files in the folder to public_html and modified my configuration file to reflect the new path... and therein lies my problem.

      Everything looks fine as long as I leave it as-is. But when I try to install anything - module, component, or plugin - it looks like it's working fine, but then nothing happens. No error, no affirmation that the extension installed, and no new folders created in the directory. It just finishes and sits there staring at me as if I never told it to do anything...

      I have been unable to find anywhere that might still reference the dev folder, which is the only thing I can think of. Anybody have any ideas that might help??

    • Probably a problem with the paths to your temp files, etc.

      Check your configuration.php and make sure the paths are correct.

      Or use JoomlaPack to back up the dev site and run the install in the public_html folder.

    • configuration.php is fine... the paths are correct. I might try the JoomlaPack option, but I'd love to know what I'm missing, if anybody can figure it out.

    • Ahh... I went to do the JoomlaPack solution and backed up the dev site - then I realized that I can't install JoomlaPack on the production site.

      I REALLY don't want to re-install J1.5 from scratch... If anybody has any ideas, I'm all ears.

    • Just an update... I tried it in IE7, and it actually worked. Must be a cache issue or something in Firefox - but a weird one, for sure.
