    • Let me describe what I have done and am seeing. I am using a Mac, so I built the joomla site with a Mixxmag Template. I built it locally using MAMP and then used joomlapack. I saw no linking issues or errors anywhere. I am using 1and1.com as my hosting company. I uploaded using the webspace explorer and was using Firefox as the browser because it won't allow Safari.
I have used MYsql 4 and 5. The host is using php4. It is php5 on MAMP. I saw no errors with joomlapack until the ftp area. It basically said it wasn't working as I set the ftp settings. the ftp host ended up the default on the install. I would put in the actual ftp host and it would just niot change the numeric. I continued with the install. It looked great from my computer as if the install was flawless. However there were MANY pics that were not showing. It startes with the middle section on Mixxmax on "more news." The sidebar has SOME missing ads...not all. Weird. The links of the "more news' area are not working. NO internal links seem to work at all.

I have seen it said I should changhe the mod-rewrite to yes, and a few other global configs to no. It won';t allow it. Is says bad write or something. I'l look again. I can't even select " the site is temporarily down. I am thinking I need to just do a brand new install of rocketlaunch and rebuild the whole site remotely. BUT, can I even set the ftp up correctly???? 1and1.com only mumbles to me quietly and says only well the ftp is right, and uh, well, I don't know. :)

Anyway, any opinions on a path would be hjelpful. My client I think will give me until today before I lose the account. I don't like failing of course. SO, I will work hard. It didnt help when 1and1.com had MAJOR email issues yesterday. AMAZINGLY BAD TIMING>>>>>

      Thanks.....

PHP 4 end of life announcement
      [13-Jul-2007]

Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued.

The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5.

For documentation on migration for PHP 4 to PHP 5, we would like to point you to our migration guide. There is additional information available in the PHP 5.0 to PHP 5.1 and PHP 5.1 to PHP 5.2 migration guides as well.

Anyway, instead of using Joomlapack, have you tried moving it manually? Then in the global configuration, change the database name, and the tmp and log path

    • For the missing path, maybe you are using relative path? It should work normally though. How about not to use relative path?

    • Well I went to the site and viewed it from Firefox. I control clicked ( mac) and saw that the pics that were visible had the correct url http//www.mysite.com as opposed to the images that were not showing. They were typically localhost/mysite/images/image. I went to the site admin remote and checked the html. The links were correct there. SO, I just saved each page where images were not showing and TADA!!! The images were then showing. I did the same where internal links were not working. I saved those pages as well and...TADA!!!!! :) Weird huh...I like joomal pack but there is an issue. I don't like my hosting company but for now I may keep them. I went to the media manager a few minutes ago to replace some images and it is still set for 127.1.1.1 or something instead of the actual ftp host. I can't change it through global config for some reason which was an issue when I set up joomlapack. I am going to look at all this again tonight and figure out why I can't set up the ftp correctly injoomlapack... thanks...it's still whacked but the site is looking better at this time...
