I haven't looked close and don't work with flash much so double check if it supports it. I recommended this real quick because it's compatible with the new component K2 that JoomlaWorks has coming out and that RocketTheme is building in styling for. Anytime you can "kill two birds with one stone" and use the same extension for multiple purposes, the lighter weight your site is going to be and the more compatible with everything. This is why I love RokBox, it can work for most any solution and be used all over the site.
I want to add a slideshow to my homepage showcase module area that spans all three modules. Would I just place it in "showcase" and nothing in "2 and 3?" Also is the RokSlideshow as easy to install as just going through the joomla installer in the admin area? What is RoKbox and when is K2 coming out?
Here's the info on RokBox. I LOVE this extension. It can do just about everything now and works very very well with RocketTheme templates. It just recently went through some major updates and has been running very solid and is even easier to work with.
RokSlideshow is easy to install. Just Joomla installer like you mentioned, then assign it to showcase and leave the other two positions blank. You've got the right idea! You will need to create a directory for you pictures and then tell RokSlideshow what directory that is and that's about all.
As for K2, that is a guessing game. They are getting close but the first announced release date for it was the beginning of last month, so it's kind of just a waiting game. From the chatter on the forums and stuff, it seems like a good sized chunk of it was rewritten to better support things like JoomFish for multilingual sites and then also a few features were made easier to access from the front end. That's the word on the street, but for official answers and posts, check
JoomlaWorks.gr
.
I had another question about roktabs. If I change the code that is in the article description and place my own images and text will that effect the scrolling function or any of the functioning? Why is all that code written in like that?
Changing the code in those module positions for RokTabs can be done using just HTML. If what you are seeing in examples doesn't look like HTML, there's a good chance that
RokCandy
is installed.
If you're looking for a little more info on creating RokCandy macros for something...
You can put in pretty much anything you want. One thing to keep an eye out for though is keeping all the tabs filled to about the same height with content. Things start looking funny if you have one tab that is really tall and then the next one really short. If you look at any time RokTabs is used in the Demos here, it's all very balanced.
Thank you so much for all your help. What is the fastest way to find out the path to an article from the position of the module. Ex. if I have some links in the "left" module and then go to my module manager I have to go into each module to see if it is the "left" module position and if it is on the particular page I am trying to change the info on. Is there a faster way to work through the hierarchy of sections, catagories, and articles?
