I was able to improve the performance on my site to the following by doing 1) using lower quality images 2) disabling every plugin I dont use 3) installing rokgzipper plugin
to setup the rokgzipper first uninstall whatever your solar sentinel came with originally (solarsentinel comes with this plugin installed but disabled), than install the newest version from rockettheme, and than enable the plugin, thats what I did

Our site is very very slow too. I have to say we are very disappointd with the speed and would say that the speed makes this template unusable. Who wants to go to all the trouble of installing and customizing this template only to be bombarded with 'it's too slow'' complaints? Not only that we pay a memebrship fee for access to this template and the fee was paid in good faith that the site would have a reasonable load speed.
Our resolution was to turn on caching (which was not easy for some reason. We ended up having to hire someone to help us work out the quirks). Also we moved to a dedicated server with a ridiculous amount of resources (upgraded a lot). You might find a significant enough improvement with caching turned on to forgo the former.
Oh! And as suggested, install and turn on rokgzipper. Though we did not see a significant performance increase in this, it did help.
Having the same problem. I have a number of sites based around Solar Sentinel each with a different colour scheme which it does well. However having settled on a colour scheme for each site it would be nice if the template could be optimised so that it never downloads any graphics other than the ones needed for that scheme. That way instead of nearly 400 downloads per page we might have only 100.
I've heard a lot of people talking about different Rocket Theme templates being very slow to load. I haven't personally don't any optimization checks but I do have a suggestion. A lot of times (at least for higher traffic websites) it would be a good idea to separate the assets from structure. Meaning, putting all your assets on another server to decrease the amount of request to the same server. This technique is used on sites with higher traffic and might not be very economical for some.
Just from hearing and actually seeing the slow load times to many of the Rocket Themes makes me really question buying another theme from them. Obviously, they need to do a better job in reducing the amount of bloat in each of their themes. They should focus on optimization first, design second IMO.
If you have other asset on let say S3 or use google css or what ever.
Would this not slow even more a web site as it as to pull information for another external sources?
To me good compression is the way to go.
Only my view...
