Problems with Converting to Solar Sentinel

I recently attempted to convert to Solar Sentinel, but when I did modules, menus, anything I attempted to place into the left or right positions on the site where corrupted and placed into center-bottom area of the site. When I diasbled everything to start again, the problem persisted and I have returned to my previous template.
Can someone help with this? I tried to activate the roknavmenu, but it did the same thing. Also, one thing I noticed is that when everything, all modules, where disabled I still had the top horizontal menu, and only got rid of it by changing the parameter in the template manager. When I set the previous template as default, no menu was there. Do not know why on SS it calls in a horiziontal menu without a request?
