Can't Logon - Changed DB in Backend

  • Can't Logon - Changed DB in Backend

    • Long story short: I changed the database name on the backend of one of my sites and did something wrong. Now I get the following message: "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to database." I don't know where to go to correct this error. I've looked in MyPHPAdmin and cannot find the database that I changed to. And I don't have the pri9vileges to create a new database (don't know why or how to change that, either).

Is there anyway that I can access the backend remotely and rename the DB to its original name?

Thanks for any assistance that you all can give me.

    • Disregard the initial post. I moved it to a new site and it is working fine now. However, my database still points to the old location on my web host. Is there anyway that I can change that or is it even necessary for me to do that, since I own both the domains?

    • I think it is better to have your database where your site is hosted. Moving it isnt very difficult.

    • Okay. Here's my deal: I was dumb and changed the name of the database in the backend. The name was wrong -- that database that I renamed it to is located on another site. So now I cannot get to the front or backend and I get the following message: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to database."

I thought it was corrected when I reassigned the site back to the initial account on HostMonster. That's where my "Disregard" came in. I was premature and sorely mistaken. If anyone knows how I can straighten out my rookie mistake, please help me.
