    problems with refreshing site. ...

Posted 15 years 1 month ago
    • hi guys,

      following situation.
i am creating a site, joomla 1.5.14, and just run into a weird problem.

if i post a new item, it wont show up in the front end.
(whether it is a module, part of a component ... )
refreshing the page, wont do the trick.neither cleaning the cache nor history of the browser.

if i log in trough the frontend, as admin, i will see the changes. if i log out, wont see them again.
the items are alway puplished "puplic" not registered, so guess it could not be that.

all this happened after i set up the site, so it did work fine before.
just now i wont get the right refresh.

i cleaned the cache on the backend,
set chache on and off, in settings backend.

dont know if that is explained well:

      for example.

      i use joomgallery:
      i got 4 picture galleries:
all puplished. ... if i unpuplish a gallery:. it will still show up in the frontend for the users.
even if i delete that gallery. ???

it gets a bit frustrating here, and i am running out of thoughts, what is broken.
maybe the cache, maybe writing rights for the directories?
any help or pointer is deeply appreciated.

      thanks for reading this.

    • hi christian,

maybe check in the joomla admin under > site > global configurations > server settings > local settings
if the timezone is set correctly.
Time Zone. This tool sets the current date and time. The set time should be where the site's server is located. The default setting is (UTC 00:00) Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon, Casablanca.

    • dear kat,

thank you very much for getting back to me.
i worked it around, in a way, that i uploaded the page again.
that solved the problem in the frontend. everything shows exact, and loads exactly there.

however funny enough, i am having problems logging into the backend.
as this takes maybe some 20 secons, for the backend to show up.
navigation within the backend then, is working fine and fast.
i am not sure, what i screwed up there.

cant it be that permissions are a problem? i had to change quiet some permissions, as the rights, where different after i uploaded the site.
      thanks again,
      christian

    • hi christian,

it is recommended to have permissions for directories chmod 755 and files should be 644.
not sure why your backend is more slow, but you could try a search or a new post in the forum at joomla.org.

    • hi kat,
thank you very much for your input.
i think i had two issues:
one with joomlagallery, which was taking ages to load, within the backend.
i disabled check for updates, now this component seems to be fine.

      the second problem, which persists is a "500 - JDatabaseMySQL::query: 1064" -error.
when i run the site in debug mode.

the site wont even load then, and just shows me the databaseMySQL-error.
      which is related to joomfish.
would you have some pointers, hints on that?

i am looking more into that in the joomfish forums.
will post in there, if i find a solution.
thank you for all your help. best wishes to egypt.

when you refresh homepage the fonts and styles will change. It's like page not remember the style sheet. If you choose the new style (new color),it will show the correct font and style but when you refresh fonts and styles will change again.

    • besides the browser refresh, bear in mind that some third part modules have theyr own cache directories that can't be deleted via the joomla delete function.
Firebux is a nice plugin that works hand in hand with Firefox and it helped me many times.
