Installation Error

Is anyone familiar with this error? I uploaded with two different FTP programs thinking Dreamweaver didn't install all the files. It looks like everything uploaded OK. When I go to my URL it gives me this error.
Error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: xml_parse() in /htdocs/www/joomlasite/libraries/joomla/utilities/simplexml.php on line 234
Trying to load compressed file: Joomla_RT_Refraction_j15.zip

- I would start it over. If you have cPanel, upload Joomla_RT_Refraction_j15.zip and extract it in the File Manager. After that, rename Joomla_RT_Refraction_j15 folder if you want to leave the files in a subfolder, or move them where you want.

This is nuts! I loaded a different theme NEXIS on an entirely different server. Same error.

I'm not able to load through a cPanel. I used Dreamweaver and also tried FireFTP to upload.
To be exact, I did this: On my desktop, I unzipped the Joomla_RT_Nexus_j15.zip folder and re-named it to /joomla/. Then, uploaded it thru FTP into htdocs/www. Does this sound correct?
