Need help!

    • I have a domain with one Joomla website. Within that domain, I have an add-on domain, which is also another Joomla site - which is using the same template (Meridian).

Everything was fine, until the other night, I was real tired, and had logged into the main domain root to get to the add-on domain files - to add something. Somehow, I must have touched the keyboard, and must have accidentally copied a file (or files) from the add-on domain into the root of the main domain site!

To my horror, when I went to the main domain site, I saw a combination of modules, menus and other elements of the add-on domain "replacing" (or trying to) the original (correct modules) from the main domain. Literally, something it telling the main domain site that it should be using modules and other elements from the add-on domain!

I have no idea what could be causing this, but I have to get it fixed - since its a live corporate site.

I can restore from a back up if needed, but I thought I would ask this community first. I would appreciate any pointers you can offer - in case it might be a simple problem (probably not!)

In this case, the main domain site is http://www.cadbludental.net
      The add-on domain is http://www.cadblu.cadbludental.net

You'll see that its taking some of the content from the add-on domain, and trying to use it on the home page of THE OTHER SITE! It doesn't fit or format correctly, and it isn't replacing everything - but is replacing most items (or trying to).

      Appreciate any help.
      Thanks
      Gary

    • hello,

Since modules are basically stored in the sql database as module positions (only calling to files who are enabled in the sql at that time/instance), and since you report swapping files around; my best guess would be to restore the template directory of the site that is on the root. Backup what is there now, replace the template files with FTP, dump site cache if any, and refresh browser to see if that fixed it.

      Regards,
      Doc
