Looking to find a way to limit users access

  • Looking to find a way to limit users access

    • Hi All,

I hope I am in the right forum for this. I am looking for a way to limit the areas registered users can access in the front-end or back-end of my website. Is there a way to just give them the ability to create articles only?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Scott

    • Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I have setup some of my front end login accounts as authors but I think I am missing something. When they login in the front end there is no where for them to create a new article. No article button to push. I have set some of my accounts to be editors and they have the ability to edit existing articles. Do I need to set something up in the back end for the front end login accounts to have access to a New Article button?

      Any help would be appreciated.

    • You need to make sure your 'User Menu' module is published.

Extensions > Module Manager > mod_mainmenu (User Menu) which has 'Submit Article' link for authors.

    • Thanks for the info. I went into my Module Manager and then into my Main Menu (which shows mod_mainmenu as Module Type), but did not see anything that resembles "Submit Article" link for authors.

I have taken screen shots of the menu but am unsure how to post them in this forum.
