Thank you for your reply. However, I am trying to find the file that actual forms the html index page. When I view the source file in my browser I can see what I want to edit but I don’t know what file it is or where it’s located in the original joomla 1.5 folders . i.e includes, templates, configuration.php-dist, modules folder

Hello,
1. Log into your Joomla Admin Control panel (yoursite.com/administrator)
2. Go to 'Global Configuration and change the title of your site.
3. Or once logged into your admin, go to Menu > Main Menu > "Home" and on the right under 'Parameters - System' you will find the title of your site.
