    can't stay logged in

    • I have a problem - not a RT problem. I believe it's database related.
I'm hoping to get some advice here from other rockettheme users.

Problems with user log-ins. There's only two accounts at the moment - both mine. I usually use one for Admin and one for front end.

When logging in to the back end, first I get an error message that' says "Your Session has expired. Please log in again". Using the same name and password I aagin hit enter and this time get the red errors tha "username and Passowrd do not match". The third time, same name and password, it lets me in.

But I can't get much done in there before I get a "Invalid Token" message and then I'm booted out. Sometime's it's just a short few minutes before I get logged out. It's getting worse I think.... can't get any work done - so frustrating.

On the front end, forget it... always problems associated with logging in.

I have 4 other Joomla sites, this one is my 5th... they are all RT sites, all on the same host, all with almost the same extensions and plug ins. The previous installation had a similar problem. I searched until near madness for "Joomla Invalid Token". (You may find some posts by me now if you search the topic)

Anyway, it appeared to me there was no answer to the problem. My web host was not eager to offer help - because I don't use their installer.

I had no choice but to re-install the entire site. Made a new database and did complete new re-install of Joomla and everything has been fine since.

During that time, I also tried some different log in modules - none worked consistently or without troubles. After making a new DB and reinstall, they all worked.

This site is a lot farther along in development - but I do have JoomlaPack and hopefully can do a restore from that after the installation.

But I don't cherish the idea of doing the re-install. Not at all. And not totally sure that is going to solve the problem... it's just the only thing I know to do and may be faster than trying to research the problem for days on end....

So I wanted to ask here - should I just get on with it?
Or do you have a better suggestion?
Does this sound like a database problem??

      Thank you!

    • First, make sure you are using the most up-to-date Joomla version and extensions. What versions are you using now?

Next, you can check your admin settings for session lifetime and extend that if you ended up making it too short.

Then check to see what version of MySQL and PHP your server is running. You'll want 5+ on those.
