    • I backed up all of the files in the joomla folder and made a db backup before attempting an upgrade to 1.5.15. When i copied the files over via ftp and attempted to load the admin login page it was giving an error so i reverted to the back up. Now none of the links work....gives a 403 error.
i called godaddy where the site is hosted and they said there is no communication with the database for those links. How do i correct this problem?
I looked in the configuration.php file and the support tech at godaddy said there should be a dbpassword in there somewhere but i couldn't find it.
      Any Ideas?

    • hi tim,

in your configuration.php you should find:
      var $password = 'yourpwhere';

    • I looked at the configuration.php file with a fine tooth comb...
it's fine! Godaddy was just trying to blow me off.
the password is correct but now they're saying its the htaccess file they are saying is not there so i placed it in again and same deal. any ideas where to go from here?

    • hi again,

can you disable seo in the global configurations and see if the links start working again?

    • no, it says jftp login failed, jftp: unable to use passive mode and
an error has occurred, unable to open configuration.php to write.

    • this doesn't make any sense!
i tried changing the use sef settings along with suffix at least 5 times and got the same error.
i manually went into the config.php file and set them to '0' went back in to the admin and tried again with no luck. I tried again and it said i changed the settings successfully but the links still wouldn't work. I went back to admin again and set use sef urls without mod rewrite and suffix on and it works now. I use smart former for my estimate forms and its there but i can't access the form to modify it now....(form is grayed out and unselectable)

    • hi tim,

sorry to hear you are still having issues.
have you tried to search or start a new post at the joomla.org forum?

    • One sure way to upgrade you site is to upload the zipped upgrade and extract it on your server vs. FTPing the files.

(extract to a folder, then copy to the root or sub-folder)

Normally, during a Joomla upgrade, you don't need to do anything to the DB, and during the upgrade, the DB is not affected.

Try what I mentioned, but it seems like you may have some other issues going on.

BTW, backing up your site and DB is important bfore you do upgrades.

For future reference, take a look at JoomlaPack....
